Indian Railways: Mega project underway to build world-class stations

Indian Railroads have taken the action to modernize their structure across the country and in line with this step, the metamorphosis of major road stations has formally started. New Delhi road station( NDLS)

In Principle blessing for the Master Plan of the New Delhi road station has been given on December 06, 2021. The modernization plan has been inked by the divisional headquarters and transferred to Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) on March 17, 2022. Northern Railway’s New Delhi road station is being re-developed at a cost of further than Rs 4,000 crore. According to reports, the road station will have a six-bottom structure. It'll have two large pools of 80 measures high and 450 measures long. The binary polls will cover all 16 platforms of the station complex. The New Delhi road station will be integrated with Delhi Metro’s unheroic line and Airport Express Line.



Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)

Mumbai Central Railway’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) road station is a UNESCO  World Heritage Site and the country's first boundary station. It's been reworked by conserving the grand heritage of the world- a notorious iconic structure to its once glory. The modernization was planned to decongest the southern heritage knot of the boundary, addition of installations, and better multi-modal integration.

The new core will again be done in the EPC mode at a cost of over Rs 813 crore. The redeveloped station will be a sustainable green structure equipped with solar energy, water conservation and recycling, STP, and solid waste operations. The station will be integrated with Metro Line 3.

Jammu- Tawi road station (JAT)

The Jammu- Tawi road station is the largest road station in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It falls under Northern Railway’s Firozpur division. The station redevelopment design is in full swing and is being erected for Rs 258.57 crore. The work of Project Management Services (PMS-responsible to cover the redevelopment design) has been assigned to Tata Consulting mastermind on September 23, 2022. At present, 80 percent of point concurrence for station structure B has been completed. The authorization to cut 195 trees has also been entered. The tender for redevelopment has been perfected on August 17, 2022.

Jaipur Junction road station (JP)

The Jaipur Junction Road station of the North Western Railway is being reopened for Rs 716.88 crore. Delhi-based Girdhari Lal Construction has been given the task of converting for Rs 578 crore. The design is likely to be completed within 42 months. To avoid problems for passengers arriving at the station, and at the same time to continue the rebuilding work easily

In FY 2023- 24, the railroads have decided to redevelop, 275 road stations under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. The public transporter has entered a popular disbursement of Rs2.41 lakh crore for the coming financial.
