So the Poco F5 is a beefy new mid-range mobile packing some pretty lovely specs, but should you Chuck a bit more money at Poco and Gold Pro instead well, let's do one of those side-by-side comparisons for you the Poco F5 or the Poco F5 Pro and for more on the latest and greatest Tech please do POG subscribe and ding that notifications Bell cheers well
What's in the box?
First up, there's not much difference when it comes to what's packed inside of the Box you've got yourself one Poco smartphone a reasonably Dinky 67-watt power adapter a hot, but FDUSB cable action, and oh yes a prophylactic Poco case so your blower does a girl banged up and that as they say is very much that now the Poco F5 and the Poco F5 Pro
Design
are both 6.67 inch beasts chicken side side very similar Dimensions that pro model is eversourced slightly bigger though just because it has ever so lightly thicker bezels here in the regular Poco F5 you've got a flat Edge designer though it's reasonably skinny not like those chunky iPhones and at just 181 grams it's pleasingly lightweight too certainly a lot lighter than the Hefty pro model which is 204 grams and flip these Poco phones over and you get a very different design as you can see there even though they're both constructed from plastic the Poco F5 Pro looks kind of stern and serious you've got a bit of pattern action going on to try and Jazz things up a bit but regular Poco F5 is pretty much the Other xtreme there's so much going on here it's a bit mental this sort of fractured pattern design thing I don't even know how to describe it it just kind of looks like you've burned the Poco F5 in the freezer next to your peas and your crispy pancakes and that pattern actually morphs as well as you tilt the phone about the place it's absolutely hypnotizing seriously Saturday night just drop a couple of pills and stare at scratch up reasonably easy unless you slap on the condom case how however you do have Gorilla Glass 5 up front for a bit of extra hardiness you've got pre-installed screen protectors slapped on both of them as well so no worries there and both of these Poco phones are should 2:16 all right the actual
Features
software experience is the same on both the Poco F5 and the Poco F5 Pro you've got the latest freshest Android 13 with xiaomi's on MIUI 14 slapped on top of that and these phones should receive the same level of software support from Poco as well so I'm talking about two Android OS updates and around three years of security updates unfortunately all Pokemon xiaomi phones are absolutely loaded with crapware when you first boot them up so you'll have to spend a reasonable amount of times gone through uninstalling all of this bollocks good old tile fun it's been loaded on every single xiaomi and Poco phone I've years h I'm not going to start today you got all the same MIUI feature is on both these phones as well the likes of the video toolbox plenty of customization options including a healthy selection of themes that you can download and Chuck on there the security app is one that's actually pretty good can perform a full health check on your phone and acts as a hub to various other features the likes a block listing which has become an essential these days and the game Turbo feature which I'll bang on about soon both the Poco F5 and the F5 Pro come with a generous 256 gigs of storage space although that's not expandable via micro SD can only slip two sims into that SIM tray both Sims Do Spot 5G however and when it comes to the security well it is a very different option on both It's actually an edge mounted fingerprint sensor here on the regular Poco F5 whereas the Poco F5 Pro goes for your more typical Optical fingerprint sensor which is built into that display personally I do prefer a physical sensor like the one on the regular Poco F5 but I've got no complaints whatsoever with the optical scanner here on the F5 Pro
Display & audio
so what about those mighty 6.67 inch displays on these Poco F5 series blowers well its AMOLED Tech on the pair of them so that means nice sharp contrast you got deep Inky blacks nice crisp clean whites you've got full support for not on the hdr10 playback but Dolby Vision on the pair of them as well the result is your movies will look absolutely resolution is crisper on the Poco F5 Pro it's a Quad HD Plus display 3200 by 1440 compared with the full HD 2400 by 1080 pixel resolution on the regular Poco F5 yeah you can notice the difference when you stick these phones side by side and scrutinize them but otherwise the Poco F5 does a sterling job for all of your media streaming needs I would say however though if you do live in a really sunshiny country like not the UK you might be more tempted by the Poco F5 Pro because it tops off at 1400 nits compared with the 1000 nits of the regular poker F5 and no matter your choice you're getting nice fluid 120 hertz refresh rate as well you can manually scale between 60 and 120 or just let the phone automatically swap between the two both of these phones also boast a stereo speaker setup but is there any actual difference well let's find out starting with the regular Poco F5 is the Asus Zenbook s13 OLED an amount of power and features despite its ridiculous and I've been using the Zenbook s13 all that for over a week now ahead of the official launch and there's certainly not much in it at all but I would say the Poco F5 Pro is ever so slightly louder than the regular Poco F5 and they both pump out reasonably crisp audio even when you do a Max them out and yes both Poco F5 and the F5 Pro have full Dolby Atmos support as well complete with usual bit of graphic equalizer action and the regular Poco F5 does have one major advantage over the pro model here as well and that is the fact that it's actually got a ruddy headphone jack subtle headphone jack on the pro model sadly but they both support Bluetooth 5.3 streaming and they've both been absolutely fine when it comes to the wireless streaming at least the regular Poco F5 has been absolutely fine the pro model when I first started testing that I'd stick my earbuds in and instead of hearing music or a podcast I would hear screechy nasty horrible noise but you know it probably wasn't programmed to do thankfully I did the Bluetooth settings and since then touchwood it's been fine anyway let's move on to Performance and
Performance & gaming
as you can see here these Poco F5 series handsets are powered by different Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets you've got the seven plus Gen 2 here on the regular Poco F5 and the Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 on the F5 Pro now the 7 plus Gen 2 and the Poco F5 is the fresher of the two chipsets it was only very recently launched whereas the it plus gen one stuffed inside of the pro model is older but that one was designed for the very best Flagship smartphones of last year we found it crammed inside the likes the Zen four nine the xiaomi 12T Pro etc etc whereas Qualcomm designed the Snapdragon 7 plus Gen 2 with mid-range mobiles in mind but that said there isn't actually an enormous performance Gap between the two with the pro model you've got a slightly higher clock speed you've got higher memory bandwidth you've got the adreno 730 rather than the 725 so more 7:28 hot gigaflop action but all that said the regular Poco F5 would spank the Poco 7:33 F5 Pro in the multi-core testing geekbench 6 every time I run the damn thing especially as both of these phones have the same amount of memory 12 gigs but anyway I put them both through their pieces with a tasty bit of gentian impact action bumped up those graphic settings all the way to the highest possible quality levels stuck up on 60 FPS and let them go and yep sure enough the Poco F5 kept pace with the pocket 5 Pro no worries at all maintaining a very fluid frame rate even when things got kind of nuts and buy things got kind of a Giant floating blue orb thing whatev 8:08 this is the Poco F5 pro has twice the h sampling rate of the regular poco F5 but I thought the F5 screen was perfectly responsive all the same I notice the difference when playing the likes of Call of Duty but I certainly come with my knackered old arthritic Knuckles and buggered eyesight you've got a bit of liquid Cool Tech stuffed inside of both Poco F5 phones including a whopping great Vapor chamber so you can keep on gaming for hours as long as the battery holds up basically and show no signs of throtland and yes you got that lovely MIUI game and mod chucked on both as well just to add a whole bunch of tools and features to help you conquer your enemies including do not disturb and stuff like that as for the
Battery life
battery life well once again there's not much of a gap at all between the regular poker F5 and that F5 pro model you've got a 5 000 milliamp-hour battery versus the 5160 milliamps stuffed in the Pro and they both seem to drain at a very similar rate when you're streaming videos or just browsing the web or whatever I've actually used the pros my full-time phone for over a week and certainly I never struggled to make it to the end of a very busy day without at least a little bit of juice left in the tank as for the around five to six hours of screen on time and plenty of audio streaming in the background as well and then when it comes to powering the backup again they both support 67 watt wired charging so you can just bung a cable in them for 20 30 minutes in the morning and Juice them up but if you want wireless charging well that's Pro on the unfortunately 30 watt wireless charging you don't have that on the regular poker F5 so let's finish u
POCO F5 CAMERA
Cameras
Poco F5 unboxing and F5 Pro comparison with a squinter the camera Tech and this is actually nice and easy because it's the same camera Hardware on both a 64 megapixel primary shooter with Optical image stabilization backed by a basic 8 megapixel Ultra wide angle and 2 megapixel macro shooter that's the exact same camera app and Camera UI on both that said there are some differences between the two for instance the Poco F5 pro has proper eye focus and also motion track and focus which you don't get on the regular Poco F5 as you can see there can't detect faces however apart from that is very very similar camera xperience the shutter speed nice and nippy and as you would imagine there's not really any difference at all in the quality of the samples that I shot on the Poco F5 versus the F5 Pro both perfectly capable cameras certainly when the lighting is decent and in more ambient light as long as your subject doesn't move around like an absolute Mentalist then it's all good too I particularly like the portrait effects on the Poco F5 and the Poco F5 Pro nice bit of bokeh action really helps your subject to stand out and these phones didn't struggle with slightly trickier conditions like high contrast either and definitely go check out my full Poco F5 Pro review for more on the photo quality you'll see that the Poco F5 and the pro have the same basic camera modes including portrait mode and night mode if you jump into more you'll see the pro does have a couple of bonus bits like dual video and movie effects but both phones can capture full 64 megapixel images and both boast a proper Pro board where you can fiddle around with the iso in raw unfortunately but here and you'll also spy some differences when it comes to shooting home movies because you've got an HDR option here on the Poco F5 Pro not available on the Poco F5 and if we jump into the resolution settings you'll see that the Poco F5 Pro can shoot up to 8K resolution footage or 4K at 30 or 60 frames per second whereas the regular poker 5 does max out at 4K res at just 30 FPS and again when it came to the video chops no real difference between the Poco F5 and the Poco F5 Pro besides the fact you've got that AK resolution support I found that the pocket F5 was just as capable when it came to shooting that 4K resolution footage visuals are sharp you've got colors as long as the lighting isn't cack again and audio perfectly captured from all around for perfect surround sound style effect so yeah overall at this sort of price point great stuff and no difference when it comes to the selfie cam action here either because once again it's a 16 megapixel front facing shooter on both the Poco F5 and the pro and this does the job absolutely fine for your everyday selfies you want to share them online even if you're shooting against a club or some other ambient environm N where light is at a premium it's all good and the Poco F5 just like the Poco F5 Pro maxes out at full HD resolution no 4K Shenanigans for that front facer but you know it's still absolutely fine if you want to do a bit of Skype and zoom in whatever and there you my lovelies that and a delicious little nutshell is the Poco F5 versus the Poco F5 Pro it's quite a few differences between them starting with the wacky design of the Poco F5 which I actually prefer and it's got a few other advantages over that pro model like the headphone jack likewise the performance there isn't the golf that you might expect between the two the battery life s still Sublime so which one are you more tempted by be gritty your thoughts down in the comments below please do pug subscribe and ding that notifications Bell .Thank you
