U19 title in the bag, Shafali eyes a SA double

At the end of another World Cup final, Shafali Verma was left Watts-eyed. The gashes at Potchefstroom were of the happy kind as safely lifted above the jewel as the captain of the first-ever winners of the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup. Shafali, a formerly established star in transnational justice, was one of two Indian players (along with Richa Ghosh) eligible to play in the Under-19 position. Having led her new side to an ICC title, the 19- time-old has formerly turned her attention to the coming month's T20 World Cup at the elderly position.

" No, the big bone also," Shafali replied when asked if the U19 jewel was the only one she was looking to take back from South Africa." I'm someone who focuses on the task at hand. When I entered the Under-19s, I only concentrated on winning the Under-19 Cup and we won that moment. I'll try and forget this and get involved with the elderly setup and gel with the platoon and win the World Cup."

Shafali formerly has experience playing at the loftiest position in World Mugs, having been part of India's juggernauts in both the T20 (Australia 2020) and ODI (New Zealand 2022) formats. In one of the enduring images of the T20 World Cup final played at the MCG that saw a record attendance of 86174 for a women's game, the also 17- time-old Shafali was reduced to gashes as India finished a distant alternate to Australia.

" Melbourne was a veritably emotional day for me in that final game, we did not win the game," Shafali recalled." When I joined the Under-19 platoon, I am just allowing,' you know, we've to win this Cup. ' I am just telling all the girls,' We've to win this Cup, we're then for the Cup.'

" We had lost the World Cup and it was gashes of sadness. Moment, they were gashes of happiness because we achieved what we came then too. I tried controlling it, but it could not be. I'll look at this as a big achievement and look to use this to learn commodity more."

Shafali did not exactly set the U19 World Cup on fire with her fur, but still finished as the event's third-loftiest run-getter with an aggregate of 172 runs, well behind her map- beating opening mate Shweta Sehrawat's census of 297 runs. Her fur affair is a commodity she wishes to set right as she moves back over a position. " I'll try to score further runs for India and am not going to be satisfied with this Cup.

Her trainer at the U19 position, Nooshin Al Khadeer, was particularly pleased that the World Cup triumph wasn't just a Shafali show and that match winner were littered each over the side, including in the bowling department where baits Parshavi Chopra(12 lattices) and Mannat Kashyap(9 lattices) were among the leading gate- takers at the event.

" The most special thing about (this group) is the belief," he said," It was a bad game against Australia, but the way they've gathered and played later, all credit to the vibes we have. We kept it veritably simple; we allowed we'd just play proper justice and simple justice, and we'd achieve this.

"We've got a good future back in India."
