India vs New Zealand 1st T20I: Daryl Mitchell and spinners hand India 21-run defeat in Ranchi

On a pitch that offered some purchase for the baits, Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi participated five raniums between them while Daryl Mitchell cracked a game- breaking 30- ball unbeaten 59 to help New Zealand take a 1- 0 lead in the three- match T20I series against India in Ranchi. The home side could muster155/9, in a chase of 177.

   Conjure start for the callers

After Mitchell's pyrotechnics had powered New Zealand to a slightly above par aggregate, the incentive and Jacob Duffy put the side in pole position. In just the alternate over, Bracewell sailed a peach of a delivery that pitched on middle on leg, gripped and also beat Ishan Kishan's tentative poke to hit top out. Rahul Tripathi, who replaced him, looked nervy at the crinkle, and soon edged Duffy to the' keeper. To make matters worse, Shubman Gill scrounge out a commanding edge to the fielder posted at midwicket, with Santner picking up his firstscalp.Suryakumar, Hardik raise hopes. For a while the brace of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya did raise expedients of India mounting a fightback. The brace used slog- reaches, scourge, cut and garret to put some pressure back on New Zealand's bowlers. Suryakumar, however, had a dread in the 9th over when a confident appeal for LBW from Ish Sodhi was turned down. New Zealand aptly took the review but the ball- shamus suggested the impact would be the arbiter's call and it would just hit the off- refuse.

So whats the turning point of the match?

Suryakumar's redundancy . In the 12th over, Suryakumar minced Sodhi straight to Allen at long- on. Hardik followed the dependence of the side back to the kiosk as he offered a return catch to Bracewell. Lower down the order, Washington Sundar cracked some hefty blows while facing Duffy and Lockie Ferguson but he'd too much to do. Sundar, who had picked up two lattices, finished with a 28- ball 50 to register his demoiselle T20I fifty but was dismissed in the last over by Ferguson.

Santner leads from the frontal

Santner, the New Zealand commander, was the crucial pantomime with the ball. He watched the bases of the batters, alongside clever changes of pace and use of crinkle to produce dubieties in the minds of the opposition, and ended up with noteworthy numbers of 2 for 11 from four overs. He also sailed a demoiselle over at the in- form Suryakumar.

Mitchell's heroics

New Zealand's sizeable score was erected on the reverse of Mitchell's stunningcounter-attack in the slog overs and Conway's 35- ball 52. By taking the lattices of Conway and Bracewell in quick race, India sounded to have made a fine comeback in the slog overs. still, in the last over of the innings, Mitchell smashed Arshdeep Singh for three sixes and a boundary.Arshdeep tried to nail the yorkers but succeeded only formerly. His short ball also did not have enough venom in it to trouble Mitchell, as the middle order club used the garret and pull to land the big shots. On the other hand, it turned out to be a chastising experience for Arshdeep as he plodded with his run- up and finished with numbers of 1 for 51.
