IND vs SL 1st ODI- India Beat Sri Lanka by 67 Runs



At 34, Virat Kohli is spanning new peaks. On Tuesday, he equaled Sachin Tendulkar's record by scoring his 20th ODI century at home. Virat Kohli scored a sublime century to set up the foundation of India’s massive 67-run palm over Sri Lanka in the first ODI at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.





















They congratulated Kohli's innings with a brilliant performance with the ball as Sri Lanka managed to score 306/8 in reply to India's 373/7. Kohli played another majestic knock to end his century failure on home soil. The fur maestro paced his innings well and scored 12 fours and a six in his 113-run brummagem 87 balls. It was the reverse-to-aft century for Kohli in ODIs, as in the final match against Bangladesh last time, the 34- time-old scored an identical 113. Sri Lanka commander Dasun Shanaka’s brilliant century went in vain as he didn’t admit important support from the other end in the mammoth chase. He finished the innings with four and six runs but Sri Lanka fell short by 67 runs.  Former captain Kohli's 87-ball 113 and his successors Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill's (70) fluent half-centuries helped India post 373 for seven. Kohli stood altitudinous as Sri Lanka also gave him a couple of chances with drop catches from Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka. When Kohli was dismissed in the last over, India scored 373 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. Sri Lanka lost Avishka Fernando and Kusal  Mendis ’ wickets beforehand courtesy of Mohammed Siraj who formerly again produced a scintillating performance with the new ball. Pathum Nissanka fought hard for the callers as he scored 72 runs off 80 balls but he didn’t get important support from the middle-order batters as Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva failed to convert good thresholds into commodity substantial. In the end, commander Shanaka fought the lone battle for Sri Lanka with his 108- run * knock which was laced with 12 fours and three sixes. He participated in an unbeaten 100-run stage for the 10th gate with Rajitha( 9 *) to show his power-hitting ability. Umran was the pick of the bowlers for India with three geraniums.
