The public elderly selection commission, in its meeting, decided to name Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka and the captain of the T20I. He has been necessary for the platoon’s success in the T20Is. The commission has finalized the team as well. Sanju Samson was dropped from the one-day team but was included in the platoon for the T20Is, which means that he's not likely to be part of the World Cup plans coming time reported the Indian Express. Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul will be the wicketkeepers for the forthcoming matches with Sri Lanka.
Indian pickers have blazoned the team for ODI and Test series
It's surprising that Rishabh Pant wasn’t included in any of the outfits. The Board of Control for Cricket in India didn’t give a clear explanation as to why the Delhi wicketkeeper wasn’t included. He was rested during the Bangladesh series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also not been included in the list.
While educated players like Sharma, Rahul, and Kohli weren’t included in the T20I team, they were included for the forthcoming five-match One-Day International series against Sri Lanka starting on January 10. In addition, all-rounder Jadeja, who had knee surgery, and leader Jasprit weren't included in the outfits.
Prithvi Shaw, who has been in good form in the T20Is, wasn't included in the platoon despite his emotional figures. The pickers decided to go with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the opening mate for Shubman Gill or Ishan Kishan. India's failure to utilize the powerplay overs was a cause for concern. Yet also, Shaw’s strike rate of 151.67 in the shortest format wasn't considered a deciding factor again.
